| HARDWARE FEATURES
A 512 KB dual ported memory buffer on-board allows big blocks to be easily processed. Blocks larger than 512 KBytes are supported with the dual port buffer and interrupt driven software. Use of a true 16 bit bus allows maximum data transfer between the on-board memory buffer and CPU with a minimum of system overhead. Use of data pipelining in the tape data path allows a very high instantaneous data throughput of 3 MBytes per second minimum, enough to support high speed 125 ips 6250 GCR tape transports. Using low-power components, the controller consumes less than 5 watts of power from the system. The controller supports all known "Pertec/Cipher" standard interface tape drives. Using a custom cable, the controller can act as a "slave" to other tape drive controllers. Supports 10 interrupt lines, no DMA channels are required. Works in all computers from 4.77 Mhz 8088 based machines through 66 Mhz plus 80586 systems, MS-DOS 6.0 and higher. SPECIFICATIONS: Transfer rate: 3 MBytes/sec Physical dimensions: 4.5" X 12.5" Power consumption: 5 watts, average Voltages required: 5 volts I/O address selection: 380 - 3F8 (8 contiguous ports) Interrupt selection: 3,4,5,6,7,10,11,12,14,15

SOFTWARE OVERVIEW
We supply over 1 MByte of MS/PC-DOS programs on three 5 1/4 inch diskettes for PC's. This basic software package is included in the system at no additional cost. Additional accessory programs are optionally available for vertical requirements. These programs will satisfy the most demanding application requirements. Read/Write Utilities: Tape to Disk, or Disk to Tape. 1. Interactive Screen Operation: Answer the questions on the screen, define the Source and Destination, file names, and operation desired to transfer files either tape to disk or disk to tape. View data in tape or disk files. 2. Command Line Utilities: Type a simple single command similar to a DOS command to transfer files from disk to tape, or tape to disk. Put several of these in a batch file to automate your situation. Use switches to stop rewinding tape between files for fast data transfers. Concatenate or append tape files to existing disk files, directly from tape, to save disk space. Read multi-volume tapes to one disk file, labeled or unlabeled. Read files beyond double file marks. Do EBCDIC/ASCII translation. Add cr/lf record delimiters to fixed length and IBM variable length records. 3. Data Extraction Utility: DEX Option: When downloading Database Information from Tape to Disk, use this utility program to: Select which fields are to be downloaded, select which records are to be transferred (for example, inspect the zip code field and only transfer records which are within a zip code range), output database formatted files for database manager or mailmerge program or for spreadsheet import. Unpack BCD numeric fields, or Zoned Decimal fields, or straight binary numeric fields and convert to ASCII numerics on disk. Do selective ASCII to EBCDIC translations on specific character fields without disturbing other,non-EBCDIC numeric fields. NT EXP option also outputs .DBF file format and operates with standard IBM variable length record formats. 4. Tape Dump Utility: Use this utility to look at a new incoming tape to determine block sizes, file lengths, whether labeled or unlabeled, sort out logical record structure, do bulk erase for security. See hex and character display on split screen to tell all there is to know about a new tape just recieved. Do a high speed scan to get file size to ensure adequate disk space before beginning tape to disk data transfer. 5. Read UNIX TAR tapes: Even though UNIX filenames exceed the DOS 11 character limitation, read TAR files to disk. The TAR Utility truncates the file name to conform to DOS requirements, data is read to disk file as normally is the case. 6. Tape Copy Utility: Make copies of tapes with either one or two (symultaneous read & write) magnetic tape drives on the system. Can also make copies with different densities to your MTU's capabilities. 7. Utility Program: Runs diagnostics, erases tape, fast file size scan of new incoming tape (to verify the tape file will fit on available disk space). 8. Labeled Tape: Write and read IBM/VSE, IBM OS/VS and ANSI labeled tapes. 9. Transfer Files With Large (Seismic) Blocks: Tapes with block sizes greater than 64K can be uploaded/downloaded. 10. Backup and Restore: Easy to use command line utility. High speed, runs over 9 MB/min at 1600/3200 cpi, approximately 25 MB/min at 6250 cpi with your fast disk. Verify the backup tape after recording. Do an automatic file-by-file compare to be positive about error- free restore. Compatible with networks. Optionally available: Back-It-4-LAN with data compression and additional error correction and detection for increased reliability. 11. High Level Language Calling Sequences: Optional Programmer's Toolkit to command the magnetic tape unit's read/write and tape motion control directly from your application program. Streamline and customize applications written in high level languages such as Cobol, Fortran, Pascal, C, Basic and others. Ask WILTEC for more programming data and the "Programmer's Reference Manual". 12. Operating System Compatibility: WILTEC offers optional driver packages and utilities for other 386 operating systems including: Microport UNIX , Interactive UNIX , SCO UNIX , Everex Enix, SCO XENIX, and SUN OS V 4.0.3 and later. Optional Utility Programs, see Option Price List |
